Craig David opens first U.S. headlining tour in January

British soul singer Craig David has announced plans for his first headlining tour of North America, slated to kick off on Jan. 29 in Miami. Tickets for several shows go on sale this week.

Very few venues on the itinerary had been confirmed for the tour at press time. Details are listed below.

The tour, sponsored by Armani Jeans, will feature David backed by his eight-piece band. The singer, who released his U.S. debut "Born to Do It" (Atlantic) earlier this year, has played a handful of holiday radio festivals in December accompanied only by his guitarist, Fraser T. Smith. The album was released in the U.K. last year.

The second U.S. single from the gold-certified "Born to Do It," "7 Days," was recently released to radio. The video was directed by a team named Max and Dania, who have also worked with Debelah Morgan and Shaggy.

The 20-year-old David has won a slew of awards this year for his work. At the MTV Europe Music Awards, he won Best R&B Act and Best U.K. Act prizes. His video for the hit "Fill Me In" earned him the Best Dance New Artist Clip of the Year and Best R&B New Artist Clip of the Year awards at the 2001 Billboard Music Awards.
