After spending late 2001 making a number of promotional appearances behind his 12th studio album, contemporary Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman has lined up plans to launch a two-month tour of the United States in late February. The four-time Grammy winner is supporting his Sept. 25 release, "Declaration."
Chapman's latest debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 album chart after moving more than 69,000 copies during its first week in stores, according to Sparrow Records. That total marks Chapman's highest debut-week sales figure.
The album currently sits at No. 10 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Christian chart, on which it recently peaked at No. 2. The album features the hit single "Live Out Loud," the video for which can be viewed at Chapman's official website.
Chapman was recently nominated for a 2002 American Music Award in the new category Favorite Artist--Contemporary Inspirational Music. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Jan. 9 at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, and will be broadcast live on ABC.
