Bassist Jack Bruce lines up club dates

Jack Bruce , former member of rock supergroup Cream , will take to the road next month for a handful of U.S. performances. The bassist is supporting his latest solo release, "Shadows in the Air."

A total of four dates are planned at clubs in New York City, Chicago, and Santa Ana and West Hollywood, Calif., according to Bruce's publicist.

Bruce's touring band features guitarist Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Hammond organist Bernie Worrell, and drummers El Negro Horacio, Robbie Ameen and Richi Flores. Bruce will hold down bass, piano and vocals.

Released in July, "Shadows in the Air" features guest appearances from Reid, Gary Moore, Dr. John and Bruce's former Cream bandmate, Eric Clapton , with whom Bruce recorded new versions of Cream classics "White Room" and "Sunshine of Your Love."

Bruce is best known for his '60s-era work with Cream, a trio he founded with Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker. The short-lived group called it quits in 1968, and Bruce has since formed several different groups and has released a number of solo albums.
