Santana plans European tour, works on 'Supernatural' follow-up

Santana has unveiled a spring 2002 European tour that will visit 10 countries a month. The jaunt is slated to kick off May 15 in Denmark.

Band leader-guitarist Carlos Santana and the rest of his eponymous band are in the studio recording songs for the follow-up to 1999's Grammy Award-winning release "Supernatural" (Arista).

In mid-October, Carlos Santana lent a hand to the Product G&B (Ghetto and Blues)--the duo whose vocals back Santana on his hit "Maria Maria" from "Supernatural"--appearing in the video for their song "Dirty Dancing." The single, due out in November, will be included on the album "Ghetto and Blues" (J Records) which hits stores in January.

Santana took time out from the studio to record "What More Can I Give," a Sept. 11 charity single written and produced by Michael Jackson.

"Supernatural" sold more than 14 million copies in the United States, making it the sixth best-selling album in the history of SoundScan, according to Santana’s website. The singles "Maria Maria" and "Smooth" are certified platinum.
