George Strait , Alan Jackson, Jo Dee Messina and Dwight Yoakam are the latest acts lassoed to perform on the 33rd Annual CMA Awards, which take place Sept. 22 at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House. Also scheduled to croon during the County Music Association's awards show are Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, The Wilkinsons, Shania Twain, Steve Wariner and Chely Wright.
Two country/pop pairings are promised as well: Merle Haggard will be joined by Jewel, and 'N Sync will perform a song with Alabama. The three-hour show will be broadcast live on the CBS television network.
McGraw, who is wrapping up a summer tour of the fair circuit, leads the pack this year with seven nominations. He's being considered for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year (''Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me'' with Faith Hill), Single of the Year (''Please Remember Me'') and Album of the Year (''A Place In The Sun''). McGraw's remaining nominations come from his work as co-producer on the album, which includes the single ''Please Remember Me.''
Vince Gill, who has won a record 17 trophies in past years, is vying for honors in five categories. He'll also serve as the show's host for the eighth consecutive year. Gill is currently in the midst of U.S. tour.
