To warm up for its tour with Godsmack, Deftones played a surprise hometown show in Sacramento, Calif., last Thursday night (6/7), according to the group's publicist. The show, which took place at the Capital Garage, was planned less than 24 hours in advance, and was attended by a crowd of 200 people.
Before embarking on their co-headlining jaunt, both Godsmack and Deftones are logging time on separate European outings. Godsmack is currently touring that continent with Limp Bizkit, and Deftones will soon begin a string of Euro-festival dates that will keep them busy from late June through early July.
Godsmack’s “Awake” (Republic/Universal) was released last October and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The group’s latest single, “Greed,” is currently the No. 4 song on both Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and trade publication Radio & Records’ active-rock airplay chart.
Deftones’ “White Pony” was released last June, and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Group frontman Chino Moreno has recently been working on a side project named Team Sleep, according to a recent Rolling Stone report. Team Sleep has stated plans to release an album this fall on Maverick, which is also home to Deftones.
