plus: Clive Barker collaborates with Jonathan Davis. A tribute CD featuring Willie, Emmylou, Lucinda and Steve. Disagreement over liveDaily's U2 review.
Eminem was to be sentenced on Tuesday (6/5) on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and brandishing a firearm in public, but his date at Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac, Mich., has been postponed to June 28. Last year, Eminem allegedly waved a gun in front of Douglas Dail, who works for Insane Clown Posse. The concealed weapon felony charge carries a maximum of five years in state prison, while the brandishing a firearm is a 90-day misdemeanor. Eminem entered no contest pleas to the charges in April.
According to Sonicnet, the prosecutor in the case against recently sentenced rapper Shyne used some of Shyne's lyrics to support his case, lyrics like these from the song "Let Me See Your Hands": "Gun cockin' and poppin', somebody call Cochran/ ... No time to waste, nine in my waist/ Ready for war anytime, anyplace/ F--- it, just another case."
Author Clive Barker is collaborating with Korn frontman Jonathan Davis and former Oingo Boingo guitarist Richard Gibbs on a DVD consisting of Barker's paintings and Davis' and Gibbs' music, JamShowbiz.com reported.
Pedernales Records will release "Poet: A Tribute to Townes Van Zandt " on Sept. 11. According to VH1.com, the album will feature covers by Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle, among others.
Some readers wrote in to disagree with liveDaily contributing writer Christina Fuoco's review of U2's concert near Detroit on Wednesday (5/30). As one reader put it:
While the bulk of your review was an objective look at what was perhaps an off night by the band, I find it odd that you miss the stage props and spectacle of recent U2 tours. Many fans, including myself, are relieved that over the top theatrics and stage diversions/distractions are absent this time around. You lament the loss of the spectacle fans have come to expect, but what about the straight ahead inspired rock shows that even longer time fans had come to expect. For "diversions" I would recommend Brittney [sic] or N'Sync shows.
