Social Distortion schedules a few Western dates

After a sold-out 20-night jaunt through the West Coast last winter, the Orange County, Calif., punkabilly band Social Distortion is heading out on another Western run in July.

Six dates--four in California and two in Arizona--have been announced via the band's official website. More shows are expected to be announced soon.

The itinerary includes a July 7 stop at the Hootenanny festival at Hidden Valley, behind the Verizon Amphitheatre and Wild Rivers in Irvine, Calif. Besides Social Distortion, the Hootenanny lineup includes Chuck Berry, the Reverend Horton Heat, Lee Rocker and Scotty Moore, Supersuckers, Cadillac Tramps, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys, John Doe, the Amazing Crowns and others. Tickets are $40, but a limited number of $100 VIP tickets are also available. The higher-priced tickets include backstage access and parking, according to event promoter Goldenvoice.

This is the second tour that Social Distortion has scheduled since rhythm guitarist Dennis Danell died of a brain aneurysm last year. Former Youth Brigade guitarist Jonny Wickersham is stepping in as rhythm guitarist. The rest of the lineup includes tattoo-covered singer Mike Ness, bassist John Maurer and drummer Charlie Quintana.
