Tony Bennett, k.d. lang team for summer tour

The odd performing couple of Tony Bennett and k.d. lang are teaming up for a 22-city tour that kicks off on July 25 in Portland, Maine. It is currently set to run through Sept. 15, when they play Los Angeles' Greek Theatre, but more dates may be added, according to a press release.

This isn't the first time that Bennett and lang have performed together. She joined Bennett on MTV's "Unplugged," and the resulting 1994 album "MTV Unplugged," for a rendition of "Moonglow." The record won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1995.

The tour is one of two major projects that Bennett has set for this summer. The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, is exhibiting 40 of Bennett's oil and watercolor paintings. Bennett, who paints under his family name, Anthony Benedetto, painted the pieces while visiting the Tuscany region of Italy.

Also, Bennett is slated to accept an honorary degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., on May 20.

In January, k.d. lang’s latest album, "Invincible Summer" (Warner Bros.), was nominated for Outstanding Music Album at the 12th annual Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards. It was released last June.
