New Releases, April 17: Brooks & Dunn, Creeper Lagoon

plus: Rob Halford , Sunshine Anderson, Angie Martinez, others.

The latest from Brooks & Dunn , titled “Steers & Stripes” (Arista), arrives in stores this week. The disc features the single “Ain’t Nothing ‘bout You,” which is climbing the country charts; the song has risen to No. 3 on Billboard’s latest Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, and is at No. 5 on trade publication Radio & Records’ latest Country airplay chart.

Later this month, Brooks & Dunn will launch an extensive North American tour behind their new album. Dubbed the Neon Circus and Wild West Show, the outing is a country music festival that will also feature Toby Keith, Montgomery Gentry and Keith Urban.

“Steers & Stripes” marks the country duo’s seventh album, and is the follow-up to 1999’s “Tight Rope.”

Creeper Lagoon ’s “Take Back the Universe and Give Me Yesterday” surfaces this week, and is the group’s first release for DreamWorks Records. The new album comes just six months after the release of last October’s EP “Watering Ghost Garden” (Spin Art).

The Bay Area quartet is scheduled to appear on “The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn” on April 24 to perform “Wrecking Ball,” the first single from the new disc. A streaming-audio version of the track is currently available at the band’s official website. (Click here for Spin Cycle review.)

Metal veteran Rob Halford delivers a heaping helping of his signature howl this week in the form of a 2-CD live set titled “Live Insurrection” (Metal Is). The disc was recorded during the former Judas Priest frontman’s 2000 tour with his latest group--named Halford--behind last year’s studio release, “Resurrection.”

“Live Insurrection” features two hours of music, including material from Halford’s stints with both Judas Priest and his short-lived outfit Fight, according to his label. The set also contains three previously unreleased studio tracks titled “Screaming in the Dark,” “Heart of a Lion” and “Prisoner of Your Eyes.”

R&B newcomer Sunshine Anderson delivers her debut album this week, “Your Woman” (Soulife). Anderson--who is managed by fellow R&B singer Macy Gray--is enjoying success on the singles chart right now with “Heard It All Before,” the first single from “Your Woman.” The track recently peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, and is at No. 4 this week.
