Reba McEntire , Martina McBride , Sara Evans and Jamie O’Neal will join forces for Girls’ Night Out, an outing that’s being billed as the first all-female country music festival tour.
Girls’ Night Out shows will open with an acoustic set by newcomer Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and full sets by O’Neal, Evans, McBride and McEntire will follow.
In January, McEntire took on the lead role of Annie Oakley in the Broadway production of Irving Berlin’s “Annie Get Your Gun.” (McEntire will not perform in the musical from April 9-18 because she will be filming a pilot for the WB television network). She is scheduled to remain in the production through May.
McEntire’s latest album, “So Good Together,” was released in 1999. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, she has sold more than 34 million albums over the course of her career, making her the top-selling female country artist in history.
McBride, whose last album release was 1999’s “Emotion,” has curtailed her touring schedule during the school year because her oldest daughter has entered kindergarten, according to her official website. She has been playing live dates on weekends and during school vacations, however.
Girls' Night Out joins an already crowded country music festival scene that includes the George Strait Chevy Truck Country Music Festival, Brooks & Dunn’s Neon Circus and Wild West Show and the Charlie Daniels Band’s Volunteer Jam.
