Joan Jett and the Blackhearts have lined up a smattering of April, May and June concert dates that are scheduled around Jett’s appearances in the Broadway rendition of “The Rocky Horror Show."
Jett has spent the past several months on Broadway, playing the part of Columbia in “The Rocky Horror Show.” In March, the cast of the show recorded an album of the production’s music, due out on May 15. Jett was not included in the project because she and the album’s producers could not agree on the terms of her involvement, according to a Broadway.com report.
In response to the falling out, Jett’s official website has since posted the following message for its users: “The ‘Rocky Horror’ cast album was recorded without Joan Jett … . Fans should not make the mistake of purchasing the cast album expecting a Joan Jett performance.”
Nevertheless, Jett is still scheduled to appear in the production in between her upcoming concert dates with the Blackhearts.
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts reunited for the album “Fetish” (Blackheart) in 1999, and reportedly have been working on new material, though no release date has been set. “Fetish” followed Mercury’s 1997 compilation disc “Fit to Be Tied: Great Hits by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.”
