Madonna to tour the U.S., Europe this summer

Madonna , following months of speculation about whether or not she would mount a full-scale tour behind her latest album "Music,” has confirmed plans to hit the road this summer. The singer will kick off her outing with a jaunt through Europe in June, followed by a U.S. run in July.

A tour itinerary has not been released, but the information will be made available in the coming weeks, according to Madonna’s label.

Since releasing “Music” (Maverick/Warner Bros.), Madonna’s support of the album has been limited to one-off performances, including November sets in New York City and London.

Madonna recently made news when both MTV and VH1 announced that they would air the video for the “Music” track “What It Feels Like for a Girl”--directed by husband Guy Ritchie--only once, due to what the networks felt was its overly violent content.

The husband and wife duo are teaming up again for a new BMW commercial directed by Ritchie and starring Madonna, according to her official website.

In February, Madonna landed the award for Best International Female at Europe’s annual Brit Awards, the country’s equivalent to the U.S. Grammys.

“Music” was released last September and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album was certified double-platinum last October.
