Kid Rock reaches settlement with former manager

Kid Rock and his former manager Stephen Hutton announced on Tuesday (3/13) that they have reached a settlement in the breach-of-contract and unjust-enrichment lawsuit that Hutton filed against the rapper last July in Manhattan.

Hutton, who managed Kid Rock from 1994 until June, claimed in the original suit that Kid Rock (a.k.a. Robert Ritchie) refused to pay him the full amount he was owed for his services, and then fired Hutton when he objected to being paid a lesser amount.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed. The suit sought damages of no less than $4 million, as well as a portion of Ritchie's future earnings. Hutton claimed that he was largely responsible for transforming Kid Rock from "an unknown, struggling artist" to a platinum-selling success.

"We are glad that this case has been settled fairly and that the litigation has been brought to an end. There are no hard feelings and we wish each other well," Kid Rock and Hutton said in a joint statement issued by Rock’s label Atlantic Records.
