Godsmack extends U.S. outing, adds Canadian leg

Godsmack , who kicked off a headlining tour in late February, has added another round of dates to the run that will keep the band in the U.S. until mid-April. A Canadian tour will immediately follow.

Staind , Cold and Systematic will continue to occupy the opening slots on Godsmack’s U.S. tour dates. The subsequent Canadian leg--sponsored by Canadian music television channel MuchMusic and dubbed the Loud Tour--will feature Godsmack teamed with Canadian rock act Econoline Crush and Canadian hip-hop artist Kardinall Offishal.

Both Godsmack and Staind have been recognized by this year’s annual Boston Music Awards, with Godsmack pulling down seven nominations, and Staind scoring six. The award ceremony is set for April 19 at Boston’s Orpheum Theater.

Godsmack's most recent album is last year's "Awake" (Universal).

When Godsmack’s U.S. tour resumes on Friday and Saturday nights (3/9-3/10) at the Hard Rock Café in Orlando, Staind will not be present. That group will be busy shooting the video for “It’s Been a While,” the first single from its forthcoming album, “Break the Cycle” (Elektra).

“The Orlando shows were the best for us not to do because we'll be playing again in Orlando at the end of April at the WJRR [radio station concert],” said Staind guitarist Mike Mushok in a message posted on the band’s official website. “We hate canceling shows, but we have really have no choice, the video has to get done. On behalf of the band, I apologize to the people who wanted to see us in Orlando, but we'll be back in about 6 weeks or so, we'll catch ya then. Sorry!”

A release date for “Break the Cycle,” the follow-up to Staind’s 1999 debut “Dysfunction,” has not been set.
