Gloom-rock heroes Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have announced a European tour that will kick off on April 18 in Stockholm, Sweden, and conclude at the Rockwave Festival in Athens, Greece, on July 2. Cave will precede the outing with a brief solo tour of the U.S.
The outings will promote the April 2 release of "No More Shall We Part" (Mute Records), the group's first new material in four years. The 16-track LP was recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London.
A live, in-studio video shot during the "No More Shall We Part" recording sessions by director John Hillcoat ("Ghosts ... of the Civil Dead") is due at a later date.
Though his band the Bad Seeds will accompany Cave on his European jaunt, he will be backed on his U.S. tour by Warren Ellis (violin) and Jim White (drums) of Dirty Three, and Susan Stenger from Big Bottom (bass).
Cave, who hails from Warracknabeal, Australia, formed Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in 1983 after he disbanded the dark-rock band the Birthday Party. The group is best known for songs such as "Where the Wild Roses Grow"--a duet between Cave and Kylie Minogue--"Do You Love Me" and "In the Ghetto."
