Resurgent heavy metal veterans AC/DC, who last year embarked on their first North American tour since 1996, will return to the continent for more dates this spring. Details remain sketchy, but the bands label has released a tentative routing on the bands official website.
So far, 27 cities are on the bands North American itinerary, which opens on March 18 in Ft. Lauderdale. Ticket on-sale dates and specific venues havent been announced.
The new dates will focus on North American markets that AC/DC did not visit in 2000. According to Pollstar, last years 33-show August-September run grossed $16.9 million.
AC/DCs latest album, Stiff Upper Lip, was released a year ago, and has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping more than 500,000 copies. The album's title track gave the hard-rock elder statesmen their first significant radio support for new material in years.
The band will be touring its native country, Australia, through mid-January, and a brief tour of Japan will follow.
