Judge issues gag order, delays jury selection in 'Puffy' Combs case
update: The trial of rapper/Bad Boy Entertainment chief Sean "Puffy" Combs and two co-defendants was pushed back on Friday (1/5), and a judge issued a gag order forbidding the defendants and their attorneys from discussing the case. Combs faces gun possession and bribery charges in connection with a December 1999 shooting at a New York nightclub that left three people injured.
During a pre-trial hearing, New York State Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon pushed back jury selection one week to Jan. 15, according to published reports.
Combs and Anthony Jones are charged with illegal possession of a stolen gun that police said was found on the floor of the vehicle in which they fled the 1999 shooting. Combs is also accused of attempting to bribe a witness.
Jamal "Shyne" Barrow, a rapper who released his first album on Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment label last year, faces charges of assault, possession of a weapon and harassment. Prosecutors allege that Barrow--who wasn't in the vehicle with Combs--fired the gunshots that wounded three people.
