Aaron Carter will head out on a U.S. headlining club tour in February, according to Jive Records. The 19-date outing includes 10 make-up dates that the teen pop star was originally scheduled to play in November and December.
On Feb. 19, Carter will kick-off his tour in Tampa, Fla., a city that was initially plotted for Dec. 10. Subsequent make-up dates follow in Pompano Beach and Orlando, Fla.; New Orleans, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C.; Morristown, N.J.; Manchester, N.H.; and Pittsburgh. Tickets to the previously scheduled show in each city will be honored on the new date.
In addition to the 10 make-up dates, new stops in Boston, Scranton, Penn.; Detroit, Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee and Cincinnati have been mapped out, as well as a final performance in Cleveland on March 4.
Boy band No Authority is slated to open for Carter on the upcoming tour, according to a spokesperson for the group. The quartet released its self-titled, sophomore album on Maverick in July.
Prior to his 2001 tour, Carter has two one-off performances scheduled, the first on Wednesday night (12/20) at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, and the second on Jan. 18 as part of Rio de Janeiro’s massive Rock in Rio III festival.
After playing the first date on his previously scheduled November and December tour, Carter took the holiday season off to rest, according to a spokesperson. The youngster--who turned 13 on Dec. 7, according to his official website--spent most of the late summer and fall on the road. His itinerary included an opening stint for Britney Spears’ U.K. tour, a solo jaunt through Australia and a U.S. tour that comprised stops at 13 Wal-Mart stores throughout the country.
Carter, younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, is touring in support of his September debut, “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” (Jive). Both the album and its companion VHS release of the same title have been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 1 million copies, according to a Jive press release. The album’s title track, meanwhile, has been certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies, according to Jive.
“That's How I Beat Shaq,'' the second single from Aaron's Party (Come Get It), is due to hit radio stations on Jan. 1, while a limited-edition commercial single for the song will be released on Jan. 30. The video for the song--which includes a cameo appearance by Shaquille O'Neal--will premiere on the Disney Channel on Jan. 6.
The Disney channel is also scheduled to air an Aaron Carter concert special on March 31.
Carter is scheduled to appear as a presenter at the American Music Awards, to be broadcast on ABC on Jan. 8.
