
LONDON--The Beatles compilation album "1" stayed at the top of the Official U.K. Albums Chart on Sunday (12/17), estimated to have sold over 1.3 million copies after five weeks in the chart. Large sales figures have also ensured that "1" is also Britain's best-selling album of 2000.
Meanwhile, Westlife held on to the No. 2 position in the album chart with "Coast to Coast" and Robbie Williams ' "Sing When You're Winning" crept up one place from No. 4 to No. 3. As a result, Texas' "Greatest Hits" slid from No. 3 to No. 4.
Eminem 's "The Marshall Mathers LP" jumped from No. 8 to No. 5 as Coldplay's "Parachutes" went up from No. 9 to No. 7 and Elvis Presley's "The Greatest Hits" went from No. 10 to No. 9.
The only two new entries this week were opera singers Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti's "The Three Tenors Christmas" at No. 65 and the Sugarbabes' "One Touch" at No. 67.
Bob the Builder, the children's TV program character, toppled Eminem from the No. 1 position on the Official U.K. Singles Chart. Eminem's "Stan," which debuted at No. 1 last Sunday, fell to No. 2. Bob the Builder even held off competition from Robbie Williams' latest single "Supreme," which debuted at No. 4.
Kylie Minogue just scraped into the Top 10 this week with "Please Stay" at No. 10, and was followed by dance group Storm at No. 21 and pop singer Billie Piper at No. 2.
