McGraw, Hill to perform at benefit for USS Cole survivors

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw will play a benefit show to support the families of the 17 American soldiers killed last month in the bombing of the USS Cole. The concert will take place on Dec. 2 at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va., during the second leg of the country singers' Soul 2 Soul tour.

Proceeds from the show, which will feature the Warren Brothers in the opening slot, will be donated to the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society USS Cole Fund. Tickets go on sale on Saturday (11/11). According to a press release, active duty military personnel will be given a $5 discount on tickets.

The USS Cole, a guided-missile destroyer, was refueling in Yemen on Oct. 12 when a small boat containing explosives maneuvered to the ship's side and detonated, blowing a 40-by-40-foot hole in the ship’s hull, according to various press accounts.

More than 200 sailors from the Cole arrived in their homeport of Norfolk, Va., last week.

McGraw and Hill, who are married, are scheduled to open the second leg of their co-billed tour on Nov. 24 in Cincinnati.
