The Backstreet Boys announced plans Wednesday for a 39-city North American tour, set to launch on September 15th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Ticket sales for the entire tour will begin on August 14th, according to a statement issued by the group's publicists on Wednesday evening.
The initial routing of the tour leaves some room for added dates in several key radio markets, though some areas of the country such as Texas are noteworthy by their complete absence from the tour schedule. The state was likewise left out of the itinerary for the upcoming Tori Amos / Alanis Morissette tour, though Amos will kick off her solo fall tour with a number of shows there.
Ticket prices for the tour will range from $28.50 to a high of $38.50 in most markets.
The group has enjoyed a tremendous retail response to their latest effort, Millennium, which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide in just over two months of release. In the U.S., sales totals set new industry records during each of the first three weeks of the album's release.
The tour will be tightly tied to a recently launched back-to-school campaign by Sears, the primary sponsor of the tour.
