Paul McCartney to play DC area in August

Paul McCartney has added another stadium appearance to his summer calendar, the latest one to take place at FedExField, home of the NFL's Washington Redskins.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who recently added to his itinerary a third July concert at New York's Citi Field, will appear Aug. 1 at the Landover, MD, football stadium, linking Macca to The Beatles first appearance on US soil 45 years ago, when the band performed at the Washington Coliseum.

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, June 26 at 10 a.m. ET at all Ticketmaster locations, and will also be available at the FedExField box office, as well as online through LiveNation.com. (LiveDaily is an operating unit of Ticketmaster Entertainment, which also owns Ticketmaster.)

McCartney's three concerts planned for CitiField starting July 17 will mark the first concerts at the stadium, which replaced now-demolished Shea Stadium this year as the home of baseball's New York Mets. The third date was added after the first two shows sold out within five minutes, according to promoter AEG Live

At both FedExField and Citi Field, McCartnety is expected to play a mix of classics from his solo catalog and by The Beatles, as well as some songs from "Electric Arguments," his album released last year under the alias The Fireman.

McCartney, who made his first US festival appearance earlier this year at Indio, CA's Coachella Festival, released his most-recent album, "Memory Almost Full," in 2007.
