Dixie Chicks top Country Music Association awards
Dixie Chicks led the field of winners at Wednesday night's (10/4) CMA Awards, taking home honors in the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Album of the Year, and Music Video of the Year categories.
The pop-country trio won in four of the five categories in which it received nominations. Only the band’s Vocal Event of the Year entry with Asleep at the Wheel, for a song titled "Roly Poly," failed to gain a win.
Tim McGraw took home the Male Vocalist of the Year award for the second straight year, while his wife, Faith Hill , won in the Female Vocalist of the Year category. Hill and newcomer Brad Paisley led the field of nominees with six apiece, but each took home only one award.
Charley Pride was honored for his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and he sang a medley of his hits that featured "Kiss an Angel Good Morning," "Crystal Chandeliers," "Kaw-Liga" and "Is Anybody Going to San Antone."
The three-hour CMA Awards ceremony was broadcast live from Nashville’s Grand Old Opry House on the CBS television network.
