“Let’s Get Ready” (Jive), the debut album from Mystikal , snags the top spot on the album chart this week from last week’s leader, Madonna ’s “Music” (Warner Bros.), according to industry sources. Also scoring high marks this week are 98 Degrees' “Revelation” (Universal)--which debuts at No. 2--and Top 10 debuts from Shyne and Lil’ Bow Wow.
Sales of Mystikal’s latest release for super-label Jive--home of ‘NSync, Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys--were spurred on by the single “Shake Ya Ass,” which is currently No. 1 on trade publication Radio & Records’ urban chart, which measures national radio airplay.
98 Degrees’ No. 2 debut “Revelation,” meanwhile, moved 276,000 copies its first week out, according to a Universal Records spokesperson. The album got help from the single “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)”--which is currently No. 8 on Radio & Records’ pop chart--and the song’s companion video, which is No. 3 on MTV’s "Total Request Live," according to MTV.com.
The activity atop the chart causes both Madonna’s “Music” and Nelly ’s “Country Grammar” (Universal) to fall two spots this week, leaving “Music” at No. 3 and “Country Grammar” at No. 4.
Bad Boy recording artist Shyne, meanwhile, further shook up the Top 10 by landing at No. 5 with his self-titled debut. The disc’s single “Bad Boyz” is No. 18 on Radio & Records’ urban chart.
Two more chart stalwarts shaken up this week are Creed’s “Human Clay” (Wind Up), which slips two spots to No. 6, and Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP” (Interscope), which slides from No. 3 to No. 7.
Lil’ Bow Wow rounds out the trio of rappers scoring Top 10 debuts this week with “Beware of the Dog” (Columbia), which enters the chart at No. 8. That album’s single “Bounce With Me” garnered the No. 3 slot on last weeks’ Radio & Records’ urban chart.
3 Doors Down’s “Better Life” (Universal) and Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out” (S-Curve) stay put in the No. 9 and No. 10 spots, respectively.
