Kings of Leon expand endless 'Night' tour

Hard-working alt-rockers Kings of Leon continue to expand their fall tour schedule as they prepare to make another road push behind their chart-topping album "Only By the Night."

The group recently polished off its spring arena trek and now heads overseas for more than a month of European touring before returning home later this summer to kick off its next leg of North America dates Aug. 9 in Morrison, CO. The outing runs through mid-October, and most of the newly added dates go on sale later this month. Full information regarding on-sale dates and the band's overseas itinerary can be found at Kings of Leon's website.

Released in September, "Only By the Night" debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart and became an even bigger seller in the UK and Australia, easily topping the charts in both countries. The album has sold almost 2 million copies in the UK alone, with worldwide sales of more than 5 million. The band recorded the set, its fourth studio album, in its hometown of Nashville with Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Modest Mouse) behind the boards.

Kings of Leon received three Grammy nominations this year for "Only By the Night." Along with a nod for Best Album, the album's first single, "Sex on Fire," scored a pair of nominations for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. In February, "Sex on Fire" took home the statue for Best Rock Performance at the 51st Grammy Awards ceremony.

The band is reportedly already at work on a follow-up album. In a recent interview with NME, the band's lead singer and guitarist, Caleb Followill, said some of the new tracks have an experimental feel. "Structurally, they're really different from anything out there--a lot of them don't even have a chorus," he said.

The video for "Notion," the upcoming fourth single off of "Night," is streaming at the band's MySpace page.
