Kenny Chesney lets more 'Sun' fall on summer outing
Kenny Chesney continues to tweak the current Sun City Carnival tour--supporting his latest album, "Lucky Old Sun"--as the trek moves into the summer months.
The outing continues June 4 in Darien Lakes, NY, a new addition to the calendar since last check. Also new are dates in Biloxi, MS; Tallahassee, FL; and Charleston, SC, in early September, as well an Aug. 14 appearance in New York City. Details are included below.
During the current trek, which kicked off back in April, the country star has been alternating between small venues and bigger ones--including Pittsburgh, PA's 65,000-seat Heinz Field--to make the shows accessible to more fans.
"We're gonna try to mix it up again this year," Chesney said in a press statement. "We've got a bunch of football stadiums--because that is an experience like no other, but we're also going to do some amphitheaters and arenas ... and knowing us, we'll probably pop up in a bar or honky tonk or two along the way. What's important is getting out there, and bringing the music to life. That's so much a part of who I am, and what I do ... And I'm ready."
Chesney's "Lucky Old Sun" album surfaced in October. The set, the performer's 12th studio album, debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart, moving 176,000 copies during its first week on store shelves.
The album's leadoff single, "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven," spent two weeks in the top slot on Billboard's country songs chart. The set's second single, "Down the Road," is a duet with country singer Mac McAnally.
Last month, Chesney released "Greatest Hits II," his second best-of compilation (2000's "Greatest Hits" was the first). The 15-track album includes 12 singles from 2002 to 2009, to non-single album tracks, and one new song, "Out Last Night," which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart in March.
