One can hardly mention Southern rock without including The Allman Brothers Band [ tickets ], the iconic group practically created the genre. They were one of the first to fuse blues and rock in an improvisational jam-band style with a decidedly country vibe. Four decades later, they are multiple Grammy Award winners with 11 Gold and 5 Platinum albums.

A mere two years after forming in 1969, original frontman Duane Allman died. Despite the tragedy and additional lineup changes, the Allmans have managed to keep the band alive. These days, such classic songs as "Ramblin' Man," "Melissa" and "Midnight Rider" are performed by founding members Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks who are joined by; Jai Johanny Johanson, Warren Haynes (also of Gov't Mule [ tickets ]), Marc Quinones, Oteil Burbridge, and Butch's nephew Derek Trucks [ tickets ].
