Singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco has added a summer leg, complete with festival appearances, to her US tour behind last year's "Red Letter Year."
The new dates will follow DiFranco's in-progress spring run, which picks up April 14 in Portsmouth, NH, and continues along the eastern seaboard through the end of the month. The folk singer will take a break for most of May after a May 3 appearance at New York City's Madison Square Garden to celebrate Pete Seeger's 90th birthday.
The newly added summer dates begin June 12 with a performance at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo Music Festival and wrap up July 19 in Aspen, CO. Stops at the High Sierra Music Festival (7/3), Rothbury Festival (7/5) and Mile High Music Festival (7/18) are also scheduled. The full itinerary is below.
DiFranco spent the first part of 2009 touring Australia behind last year's "Red Letter Year," her 20th studio album released on her own Righteous Babe Records label. Backing her on the road are Todd Sickafoose on upright bass, Allison Miller on drums and Mike Dillon handling percussion.
Known for releasing official bootlegs of some of her sets, DiFranco most recently issued "Hamburg, Germany: Live at Fabrik," a double disc set featuring 20 tracks recorded live at the October 2007 concert. The live album, which marks the tenth release in the Official Bootleg series, is available at stops along DiFranco's tour, or via her website.
