Kanye West has renamed his philanthropic organization in honor of his mother, who died in November 2007 from complications following cosmetic surgery.
Under its new name, the Dr. Donda West Foundation will team with the Live to Give Campaign to present a benefit hip-hop concert Nov. 4 in Washington, DC.
Two surprise performers for the show, which is billed as the "Give Back Concert," are scheduled to be revealed on Oct. 10 and 20, according to an AllHipHop.com report.
Event organizers have hinted that the first performer had his first two albums debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 Chart, and the second has won a Grammy, four BET awards and a Teen Choice award.
Washington Wizard's player Antawn Jamison is scheduled to kick off the event with a meet-and-greet and voter-registration drive for pre-sale ticket purchasers. In addition to the opportunity to meet Jamison, the first 200 pre-sale purchasers will attend a pre-concert meet-and-greet with the performers.
