Alice Cooper and Slash will be honored at the fourth annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert May 9 at The Music Box @ Fonda in Hollywood, according to a press release. The benefit proceeds will go to the MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides addiction and recovery treatment to members of the music community regardless of their financial situation.
Cooper will receive the Stevie Ray Vaughn Award for his dedication to and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, and his devotion to helping other addicts with the recovery process, according to the release.
Slash will be honored with the From the Heart Award, marking his unconditional friendship and dedication to the mission and goals of the organization.
The evening will feature performances by Blind Melon and Camp Freddy (Chris Chaney, Donovan Leitch, Billy Morrison, Dave Navarro and Matt Sorum), along with other special guests. Cooper and Slash also will perform at the event, which will be alcohol-free out of respect for the clients of the MusiCares MAP Fund.
MusiCares was established by The Recording Academy in 1989 to provide a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need. Its services and resources aid musicians facing financial, medical and personal emergencies. MusiCares developed the MAP (Musicians' Assistance Program) Fund in 2004 as a pool of resources set aside specifically to address addiction recovery and sober living needs.
