Josh Turner stays on top of 'Everything' this year

Deep-voiced country crooner Josh Turner is looking clear into fall as he continues to tour behind his latest album, "Everything is Fine."

The singer/songwriter plays the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo tonight (2/17) and then he'll skip into March for a run of Southern and East Coast dates that start with a performance at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry. Turner's itinerary, listed below, currently shows a few gigs in April and May before things pick up speed for the summer months. At the moment, more than 20 coast-to-coast dates are on the books through September, including a stop at Alberta's Big Valley Jamboree.

"Everything is Fine," Turner's third album for MCA Nashville, surfaced in the fall of '07, debuted at No. 3 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and remains in the Top 40 after 67 weeks. The set spawned the performer's third Top 10 single, "Firecracker," as well as the hit "Another Try" featuring Trisha Yearwood, which is currently up for the Academy of Country Music's Vocal Event of the Year honor. The album's title track is the latest single to get a firm grasp on the Hot Country Songs chart, as it currently holds the No. 22 spot after 25 weeks.

"Everything is Fine" mixes the traditional country music that Turner's grandparents listened to with a contemporary vibe for today's fans.

"Growing up, traditional country music was always where my heart was at, because those songs were speaking about the life that I was living in rural South Carolina," Turner explained in his bio. "It was all about love and work and life and just the everyday stuff that people go through. It has always made me feel good--the melodies, the lyrics--so that's what I'm trying to carry on."

The set follows Turner's sophomore effort, "Your Man," which was one of only four country albums to reach double-platinum status in 2006. That feat led up to the singer's invitation to be one of the youngest members of the Grand Ole Opry.

Turner is also featured on the recently released soundtrack to "Billy: The Early Years," a film that depicts the early life and ministry of the Reverend Billy Graham. The singer co-stars in the biopic, playing Graham's musical counterpart, George Beverly Shea.
