Joan Osborne [ tickets ] will lay the groundwork for the Sept. 21 release of her new album, titled “Righteous Love,” with a tour that gets underway on Sept. 1. Though the tour opens with shows at the New York State Fair in Syracuse and at Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival, the itinerary is dominated by appearances at theaters and clubs.

Osborne was dropped by the Mercury/Island/Def Jam label in January, but she quickly signed a deal with Interscope Records. Ironically, both labels fall under the Universal Music Group umbrella.
