Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles is putting the wraps on a wildly successful year while making plans to keep the momentum going in 2009.
Bareilles has a few more gigs through next week before she breaks for the holidays and hits the road again in February. Her upcoming winter trek, which also features singer/songwriter Tony Lucca, is scheduled to kick off Feb. 11 in Alexandria, VA, and visit 10 cities in the US and Canada through mid-March. Two-night stands are booked in San Francisco and Annapolis, MD. Details are listed below.
Tickets for confirmed 2009 performances go on sale beginning today (12/12), and additional shows are forthcoming, according to Bareilles' MySpace page.
The trek is the rising star's third set of headlining dates to support her gold-certified debut, "Little Voice," which surfaced last year and made a steady climb into the Top 10 on the US album chart. Last week, the Grammy organization announced that the album's No. 1 hit single, "Love Song," is nominated for awards in the Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance categories.
The tune got a boost from Bareilles' appearance in a commercial for the Rhapsody music service, and it remains a Top 10 song on Billboard's adult contemporary chart after 48 weeks.
"When they did the Rhapsody commercial, it really raised everybody's exposure to the song and people really started, I guess, liking the song," Bareilles explained in a recent interview with LiveDaily. "I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but it wasn't this."
The buzz has continued with the October release of the singer/pianist's first live DVD, "Between the Lines: Sara Bareilles Live at the Fillmore," which captures her sold-out concert at the famed San Francisco venue.
Bareilles is also featured on the recently released holiday compilation "Hotel Cafe Presents Winter Songs," for which she wrote and recorded the title track with fellow singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson. The video for the song is streaming at Bareilles' MySpace page.
