Hole 's Courtney Love and Eric Erlandson will play a rare acoustic show in the Los Angeles area on January 9th before leaving for a three week tour of Australia, where Hole will join Korn, Marilyn Manson, the Manic Street Preachers, Sean Lennon and others on the Big Day Out tour.
The acoustic event, scheduled to take place at the storied Viper Room in West Hollywood, will act as one of the re-launch events for the venue, which has been closed since November for remodeling. The event will also be a benefit, with tickets reportedly set at $200 each, according to a Los Angeles Times report. The proceeds will benefit the Center for Living, a non-profit yoga center.
Love has said that Hole is looking for an appropriate tour package for a springtime US tour. On a Los Angeles radio program in December, she mentioned that two top choices at the time were Alanis Morissette and Marilyn Manson. Love voiced misgivings about both, recalling that she publicly slagged Morissette in the past and expressing reservations about whether the environment on a Manson tour would be good for her daughter, Frances Bean. Morissette has since released a US itinerary with Liz Phair and Garbage on board for respective openings slots. Manson has recently made a number of unflattering statements about Love.
In other Hole news, Hole will release a UK single of the track Malibu from their current album Celebrity Skin. The single will include a cover of the Bob Dylan song It's All Over Now, Baby Blue, which Hole performed regularly throughout their brief US tour in December. The UK single will also feature live versions of Celebrity Skin and Reasons To Be Beautiful, according to Billboard. There will be no US version of the single.
