The Black Keys 'Attack' early year dates

Guitar-and-drum duo The Black Keys have lined up their first shows of 2009, an early year tour that continues to back the pair's Danger Mouse-produced "Attack & Release."

The Ohio alt-rockers kick off the brief outing Jan. 29 in Detroit, MI. Fans can also catch the group in Cleveland (1/30), Baltimore (2/4), Philadelphia (2/5) and New York (2/6). Before setting out on the US trip, the pair will tackle a run of European dates, followed by an Australian tour in early January. The group's complete overseas schedule can be viewed at the Black Keys' website.

The pair worked with Gnarls Barkley principal Danger Mouse on "Attack & Release," which debuted at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"It was sweet working with Danger Mouse," Auerbach said in a recent interview with LiveDaily. "He's a cool guy. Above everything else, we got along as friends. It was really easy to work with him when we got into the studio. Everybody had their equal say and could throw out ideas."

The album, which follows 2006's "Magic Potion," features guest appearances from a pair of frequent Tom Waits collaborators: guitarist Marc Ribot and multi-instrumentalist Ralph Carney. The set also features vocal contributions on the closing track from 18-year-old bluegrass singer Jessica Lea Mayfield.

The duo is also set to release its second live DVD. "The Black Keys Live at the Crystal Ballroom" documents a performance from this April in Portland, OR, and features 17 live songs; original music videos for "Your Touch," "Just Got To Be" and Strange Times"; and behind the scenes footage of the recording of "Attack & Release."

The DVD, which was produced and directed by Lance Bangs, hits stores Tuesday (11/18) on Nonesuch Records.
