Cheech & Chong reunite for first standup tour in 25 years

Comedy duo Cheech & Chong have announced plans to reunite for their first live standup tour in more than 25 years.

The pair of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, notorious for their drug-heavy humor in the '70s, will take their "Hey, What's That Smell?" tour to 24 cities this fall and winter, kicking off Sept. 12 in Upper Darby, PA, and running through a Dec. 20 show in Denver. Dates are below.

Tickets go on sale beginning Aug. 8 at 4:20 p.m. local time in each market. Additional dates and information on presales will be announcedvia the duo's tour website.

The pair, which released nine comedy albums between 1972 and 1985, along with eight feature films, originally broke up in the '80s amid creative differences. Marin told the Associated Press that the pair has tried to reunite in the past, but always ended up fighting too much with each other.

"It takes about 3 minutes for that to happen. There's this veiled hatred," he said. "We've kind of resolved that.

"We've gotten to the age where we don't feel like fighting anymore because the end is a lot closer than the beginning," he added.

Marin has spent most of his time since the breakup working in Hollywood and making frequent appearances in movies and television, while Chong, who spent eight months in prison in 2003 and 2004 for selling drug paraphernalia through the Internet, has stayed busy with his standup comedy career.
