Motion City Soundtrack stays busy on the road

Indie rockers Motion City Soundtrack will spend the rest of the summer touring behind their latest release, "Even If It Kills Me."

Between headlining jaunts and a stint on the Vans Warped Tour, the Minneapolis-bred quintet is scheduled to visit US cities from coast to coast and a few Canadian provinces through mid-September. Motion City Soundtrack's in-progress outing--featuring The Spill Canvas, Sing It Loud and Treaty of Paris on select dates--continues Saturday (7/19) in Edmonton, Alberta.

When that trek wraps next week, MCS will segue into a three-week run on the Warped Tour. The guys will join another slate of bands in September, when they kick off the "Left Handed Forms of Human Endeavor Tour," which includes Margot & the Nuclear So and Sos, Dear and the Headlights, The Hard Lessons, The Silent Years, I Was Totally Destroying It, and To Reinvent on select dates. Lineup details are available at Motion City Soundtrack's website, and the band's current tour itinerary is listed below.

MCS' third studio album, "Even If It Kills Me," surfaced last September and shot to No. 1 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart. Several songs from the set, produced by Cars frontman Ric Ocasek and Fountain of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger, are streaming at the group's MySpace page.

In May, Motion City Soundtrack put out a five-song EP comprising acoustic versions of tunes from the new album. That set is available exclusively at Apple's iTunes store.

MCS also appears on the two-disc "Vans Warped Tour '08" compilation CD, which hit stores last month.
