Randy Travis continues to add dates to his ongoing tour in support of the forthcoming "Around the Bend," his first new album of country music in eight years.
The gospel/country star, who's already been on the road much of the year, continues the current leg of his trek Saturday (7/12) in Houston, and new additions to the schedule include several added Canadian dates on both sides of the country in August and September. The singer's complete schedule is included below.
Due in stores July 15, "Around the Bend" is Travis' 17th studio album and his first country music record in eight years. The debut single and video, "Faith in You," are both available at Apple's iTunes music store. As a thank you to his fans, Travis offered a free download of "Faith In You" to registered users of his website for a brief period earlier this year. The song and video can still be found on the site in streaming form.
Travis, who has concentrated on recording music with a gospel slant in recent years, last released a traditional country album in 1999, with his seventh and final release for the Dreamworks label, "A Man Ain't Made of Stone."
Travis has also built a second career as an actor, most notably appearing in the January 2006 big-screen thriller "The Visitation," based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Frank Peretti. Travis' latest starring role is in director Judson Pearce Morgan's "The Wager," which is out now on DVD.
Travis, who has racked up six Grammy wins and five CMA awards in his career, has sold over 21 million albums, according to his publicist, racking up 22 No. 1 hits in the process.
