Country star Martina McBride has tweaked her schedule a bit and added several dates to her summer/fall "Waking Up Laughing Tour," which gets under way this week.
The under-the-stars outing is set to launch Friday (7/11) in Clarkston, MI, and visit more than 30 amphitheaters across the US into mid-October. Since last check, shows have been added in Gilford, NH; Missoula, MT; Bakersfield, CA; Albuquerque, NM; and Red Wing, MN. An updated itinerary is listed below.
Texas-based singer/songwriter Jack Ingram, who appeared on McBride's arena tour earlier this year, will continue as special guest, and newcomers Chris Young and Jason Michael Carroll will take turns in the opening slot.
McBride's 2007 "Waking Up Laughing" jaunt was one of the year's Top 10 tours across all genres, according to a press release. The album of the same name surfaced last year and debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200. It has spawned McBride's fastest-selling single to date, "Anyway," as well as the radio hits "How I Feel" and "For These Times."
In April, the Grammy-winning songstress released her first live set, "Martina McBride: Live in Concert," which includes an eight-song CD and a DVD recorded last September at Moline, IL's i wireless Center. The film has aired across the country on the PBS-TV series "Great Performances."
McBride, a four-time Country Music Association Vocalist of the Year, has sold more than 16 million albums and charted 22 Top 10 singles during her 15-year career, according to her bio.
