Ed Harcourt maps 'Beautiful' headlining tour

Singer/songwriter Ed Harcourt has lined up a short headlining tour in support of his most recent studio album, "The Beautiful Lie," which finally hit US stores last month.

Before the headlining run gets underway, the British performer will polish off a Thursday (7/10) support date in Los Angeles with The Gutter Twins. Harcourt was originally pegged to open seven shows for the alt-rock duo (ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan and Afghan Whigs lead singer Greg Dulli), but the other six shows have been canceled due to "scheduling conflicts," according to a press release, leaving the sole LA date intact.

Harcourt's headlining schedule kicks off a day later with a Friday (711) show in Las Vegas. The pianist/singer has 10 dates on the map for July; details are below.

"The Beautiful Lie," Harcourt's fourth studio album, was released two years ago in the UK but only saw its US release last month on New York indie imprint Dovecote after the singer was dropped by Astralwerks/EMI, his American record label, in 2006.

The 14-track set features guest vocals from British indie-rockers The Magic Numbers, while Harcourt's wife, Gita, plays violin throughout the album. Streaming versions of the album's songs can be heard at Harcourt's website.
