Kid Rock keeps 'Revival' alive all summer
Kid Rock has sprinkled more shows onto his "Rock and Roll Revival Tour," which now stretches into mid-September.
The Detroit rap-rocker, who recently returned from Europe, will start his next round of dates--a seven-show Canadian run--July 5 in Victoria, British Columbia. He'll wrap the month with a three-night stand on his home turf before moving into August, when he'll join Lynyrd Skynyrd for the nine-city "Rock and Rebels Tour." Since last check, Rock has added nine US shows to his schedule, the majority of which intermingle with the Skynyrd dates. An updated tour itinerary is listed below.
Rock has been on the road since January, heading up his "Rock and Roll Revival Tour," a revue-style outing that has featured the bad-boy rocker and his Twisted Brown Trucker Band playing a medley of hits with guests including Run D.M.C.'s Reverend Run, former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts and J. Giles Band frontman Peter Wolf.
The outing supports Rock's platinum-selling October release, "Rock N Roll Jesus," which topped The Billboard 200 and has spawned mainstream- and modern-rock hits "So Hott," "Amen" and "All Summer Long." The latter track, a mash-up of Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama," is currently climbing Top 40, pop, country and adult charts. The performer has recently been in the news for his tongue-in-cheek rant on YouTube encouraging people to steal his music and suggesting they may as well go ahead and "steal everything" like laptops, iPods, cars and gasoline while they're at it. The rant came after Rock announced he was boycotting Apple's iTunes store in the US because they don't pay artists enough. He later felt the need to clarify that he was only kidding about encouraging theft.
