Ruff Ryders Can’t Topple Eminem From No. 1 Album Slot
The hip-hop collective Ruff Ryders will extract Britney Spears from the No. 2 slot on the Billboard 200 album chart next week, but Eminem ’s “The Marshall Mathers LP” will retain the top position for a seventh consecutive week, music industry sources report.
The Ruff Ryders compilation album “Ryde or Die Vol. II”--which features contributions from DMX, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Redman, the Lox and others--managed initial-week sales of nearly 255,000 units, 35,000 fewer than Eminem.
Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again” will fall to the No. 3 slot, but still remains a strong seller with nearly 225,000 copies sold.
“Country Grammar,” the debut album from Nelly , drops one place to No. 4, while ‘N Sync’s “No Strings Attached” jumps two spots to No. 5.
The remainder of the top 10 will include Creed’s “Human Clay,” Lil’ Kim’s “Notorious K.I.M.,” Papa Roach’s “Infest,” Kid Rock ’s “History of Rock,” and the Eric Clapton/B.B. King collaboration “Riding with the King.”
The lone new release that will chart in Billboard’s top 100 this week will be “Live at the Greek” by Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes, at No. 64. The album, which was first released in 1999, was originally sold only via the Internet.
