Fans Line Up For Free Limp Bizkit Tickets
About 2,500 fans were queued in front of Detroit's State Theater this morning (7/11) for the wristbands that would gain them entry to Limp Bizkit 's free, Napster-sponsored "Back to Basics" tour, according to local radio reports. The 14-city tour, which will also feature rappers Cypress Hill , is scheduled to open with a two-night stand at the venue tonight (6/11).
Despite worries that the first-come, first-served wristband giveaway would cause security problems, police told the Detroit News that the crowd was peaceful and calm, even when Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst visited the line on Monday (6/10) to sign some autographs. The State Theater has a capacity of 3,000, so it's expected that nearly 6,000 wristbands will be distributed.
Though the names of many venues to be visited by the tour have been leaked, they are not being officially announced by the band until a day or two before each concert. Durst announced the location of the Detroit shows on two area radio stations on Monday, but some people reportedly were lining up outside the venue by noon on Sunday (6/9).
The tour was originally scheduled to open with shows on July 4 and 5 in Chicago, but the start was pushed back. Postponed dates in Chicago and Minneapolis have been rescheduled, but Indianapolis--which was on an earlier tour schedule-does not appear the latest version of the itinerary.
Tour publicists confirmed dates for 11 of the 14 cities on the “Back to Basics” tour on Monday. The tour will conclude in Southern California, and the remaining dates will be announced soon, publicists said.
