We Are Scientists plot 'Thrust' toward summer

Eccentric alt-rockers We Are Scientists will head out this summer for a headlining trek to support the group's latest studio album, "Brain Thrust Mastery."

The Brooklyn-based outfit, which revolves around guitarist/vocalist Keith Murray and bassist/vocalist Chris Cain, will launch the US portion of its schedule July 1 in Los Angeles. The 20 North American dates will fit around separate tours of the UK and the summer European festival circuit.

All domestic dates are shown below. For the band's overseas schedule, check We Are Scientists' official website.

"Brain Thrust Mastery," the band's third studio album, was released in the UK in March, and earlier this month in the US. The disc peaked at No. 11 on the UK album charts after its first single, "After Hours," rose to No. 15 on the UK singles chart, the group's highest sales ranking to date.

The set follows 2006's "With Love and Squalor," the band's major label debut for Virgin. A odds-and-ends collection, "Crap Attack," hit stores later the same year, featuring b-sides, outtakes, and covers of songs by acts including Sigur Ros and Art Brut.

The record marks We Are Scientists' first studio recordings since the departure last fall of drummer and founding member Michael Tapper, who was replaced by Adam Aaronson. The group also welcomed new keyboardist/guitarist Max Hart into the fold.
