Death Cab for Cutie logs first No. 1 album

Alt-rockers Death Cab for Cutie moved 144,000 copies of its latest set, "Narrow Stairs," during its first week in stores, enough to give the group its first No. 1 album.

Entering The Billboard 200 chart at No. 2 this week is the Frank Sinatra hits set "Nothing But the Best," which sold 99,000 copies. Jason Mraz 's "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things" debuts at No. 3 with sales of 73,000, according to Billboard, which bases its flagship album chart on Nielsen SoundScan retail data.

Duffy 's "Rockferry" debuts at No. 4 on the US chart with sales of 71,000, while fellow British newcomer Leona Lewis climbs one rung to No. 5 on sales of 62,000.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Mariah Carey 's "E=MC2," Neil Diamond 's "Home Before Dark," Madonna 's "Hard Candy," Toby Keith 's 35 Biggest Hits" and Keith Sweat 's "Just Me."
