Pat Benatar readies hits album, tour

Pat Benatar is staying busy this summer with a two-disc hits collection on the way and an extensive North American tour that's scheduled to stop in nearly 50 cities.

The iconic lady rocker and her longtime husband/guitarist, Neil Giraldo, will roll out the trek Friday (5/16) with a gig at the Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival in Richardson, TX. They'll spend the next several months criss-crossing the US, playing a variety of venues and festivals, including Milwaukee's Summerfest. They'll also cross into Canada for a five-show run that stops in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Details are listed below.

Benatar, who has 20 Top 40 hits under her belt, will revisit those and a host of other fan favorites on "Pat Benatar: Ultimate Collection," which is scheduled to drop June 24. The two-disc set houses more than two hours of music and features signature hits including "Heartbreaker," "Love Is A Battlefield," "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Fire And Ice" and "We Belong."

The singer's latest studio album, 2003's "Go," marked her first collection of new material since 1997's "Innamorata." Benatar told Billboard last year that her and Giraldo's next studio set will feature acoustic versions of their songs.

Since bursting onto the music scene in 1979, Benatar has racked up six platinum- and three gold-certified albums, and won four Grammy Awards for Best Female Rock Performance.
