Randy Travis returns to the country fold

Dove- and Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Randy Travis has lined up a summer run ahead of the release of his first traditional country album in more than eight years.

The country star will continue his latest outing May 22 in Tucson, AZ, as he prepares for the album's July release, with dates mapped throughout the summer and fall months.

The trek includes a June 8 appearance at Nashville's CMA Music Festival, which also boasts Trace Adkins and Kenny Rogers, among others, and several shows in Canada, starting with a July 24 date in Windsor, Ontario. The complete itinerary is included below.

"Around the Bend," due for release July 15, is Travis' 17th studio album and his first country music record in eight years. The debut single and video, "Faith in You," are both available at Apple's iTunes music store. As a thank you to his fans, Travis offered a free download of "Faith In You" to registered users of his website for a brief period earlier this year. The song and video can still be found on the site in streaming form.

Travis, who has concentrated on recording music with a gospel slant in recent years, last released a traditional country album in 1999, with his seventh and final release for the Dreamworks label, "A Man Ain't Made of Stone."

Travis has also built a second career as an actor, most notably appearing in the January 2006 big-screen thriller "The Visitation," based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Frank Peretti. Travis' latest starring role is in director Judson Pearce Morgan's "The Wager," which hits stores on DVD this week.
