Jimmy Eat World chases 'Light' on summer trek

Alt-rockers Jimmy Eat World will hit the road this summer in support of their latest studio CD and a recent re-release of the band's 2001 smash, "Bleed American."

The Arizona-bred quartet will kick things off June 18 in the group's hometown of Phoenix before heading off for the remainder of the 14-city run, which will canvas several West Coast and Canadian cities in July. Details are below.

In June, the band will hit several large European music festivals. Those dates can be viewed at the group's MySpace page.

Jimmy Eat World is backing last year's "Chase This Light," its first full-length studio set since 2004's gold-certified "Futures." The new disc, which was produced by alt-rock studio vet Butch Vig (Nirvana, Sonic Youth), debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 album chart following its release last October.

"Big Casino" and "Always Be," the album's first two singles, are streaming at the band's website in both audio and video form.

Last month, the band released a new two-disc deluxe edition of "Bleed American." The re-release features a bonus disc that collects various b-sides and unreleased tracks, as well as "Your House 2007," a re-recording and "re-imagining" of the album's title track, according to a press release.
