Hippiefest is set to return to the road this summer with '60s acts Jack Bruce of Cream , Eric Burdon & the Animals, and The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie leading the lineup.
The traveling nostalgia festival, which kicks off July 11 in Phoenix, will also include Melanie, Badfinger featuring Joey Molland, and Jonathan Edwards, as well as Janis Ian and former Hollies member Terry Sylvester on a few dates. The lineup for each show can be found at the Hippiefest website.
The third annual tour is scheduled to travel from the West Coast to the East Coast, visiting theaters, amphitheaters, wineries and casinos in nearly 20 cities across the US, as well as Toronto. The itinerary is included below.
Hippiefest, billed as "A Concert for Peace & Love," encourages fans of all ages to come out and be a hippie for a day, as evidenced by the psychedelic event poster that reads, "Bring your parents, your grandparents, and bring your kids!"
Last year's Hippiefest celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love, when an estimated 100,000 young people from around the world flocked to the San Francisco Bay Area to join in on the hippie experience. Performers on the 2007 tour included The Turtles, Felix Cavaliere's Rascals, The Zombies, Mountain, Mitch Ryder, Badfinger, Country Joe McDonald, Iron Butterfly, Denny Laine and Melanie.
